3 Shining Star Of The CDS School I always feel proud when I have to write or say anything about The Chanda Devi Saraf School, Nagpur. The actual journey of my education was started from The CDS School in the year 2011. I will never forget the contributions of the respected teachers and guides of CDS school for my success in life. From a simple student, they helped me to become the ICSE and ISC board exam topper in Nagpur and Vidarbha division, University Topper, getting awarded as the best state level debater and later getting admitted to a prestigious institute like Vellore Institute Of Technology (VIT). I feel that CDS school is one of the best schools and has always played a great role in shaping the career of students.

4 A Beautiful Colour Of The CDS Rainbow I’ve spent most of my teenage years at The CDS School and I am so fortunate to have been a part of this ever-evolving institution. I still remember the turbulent phase of life I was in when I first joined the school but gradually, I found a rhythm and embraced the school just like it had embraced me. I saw the school grow with me and I along with it. Being a student of CDS has given me the courage to stand for my principles, understand the true value of education, cherish friendships and trust the choices I make.
Being one of the few schools of the cities with ICSE curriculum, CDS provided an environment for a holistic development. Even though I have a tendency of shying away from many activities, I remember doing almost everything the school offered. From participating in inter-school competitions to hosting school functions, from acting in plays to practising march-past drills, from waiting for class to end so that I could have a quick chat with Dolly ma’am in front of the computer lab to wanting to be kind and thoughtful and brilliant like Dolly ma’am, from wandering on the sports-ground in “games” period to reading books alone in class, from spending hours in the school bus (I lived very far from school) to wanting the morning assembly to finish at the earliest (we used to stand in the sun at that time), from arguing with Santosh bhaiya about bus routes to making peace with Santosh bhaiya about bus routes, from doing community service to gobbling the canteen samosas after a long day, and from being the quiet, reserved girl to being elected the head-girl and becoming a board examination topper.
If I am writing about CDS then I absolutely have to mention the two teachers who have touched my soul- Late Mrs Rekha Singhal and Kenneth Mendonca Sir. I still miss Singhal ma’am, she would teach us Hindi. She was a great writer and a beautiful human being. She always always stood by her students and would teach us not just the lessons from books but lessons about the world as well. Her love for us was unfathomable and even after she is long gone, I am sure those who knew her, carry her essence somewhere in their hearts even today, just like me. Speaking of Kenneth Sir, I don’t think I would have survived the school without his constant care, supportive, guidance and wisdom. If this piece of writing resonates with you, you can give the credit to Kenneth Sir because he graded all my essays and letters in school, told me when I had to strive harder and when I excelled. He not only mentored me for English but also helped me pave my way through the difficult times in school and life. He always had an answer and how I wish I could run back to him now as well whenever (and quite often) “adulting” becomes difficult.
Academics are an integral part of every school obviously but the unique thing about belonging to CDS was the freedom to choose what to learn. For instance, I found my love for humanities right here. I ditched the traditional norms of pursuing math and science by the 9th grade because knew my interests lied somewhere else. I am thankful to all my teachers and director ma’am till this day for giving me the space to explore back then. And it worked splendidly because later I found my true love called Psychology. I started studying psychology at CDS for 11th and 12th, continued with it for graduation during which I stood 3rd merit and was the university topper for the same subject for 3 consecutive years, went on to do my masters in Clinical Psychology at Christ University Bengaluru, then went on to do another post-graduation (M. Phil) in clinical psychology. Today I can say I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I get to help people dealing with mental health issues almost on a daily basis. I doubt I would have reached this level of education and compassion for my profession had it not been for this decade long exposure to the field of Psychology; the advent of which happened in CDS.
Life has many colours, we all see the dark and light shades taking turns now and then. Just like that The CDS School was a beautiful rainbow in the midst of some rain and some sunshine. All in all, I can just say that it was a pretty good season. As alumna, my doors are always open for anyone who is or wishes to be a part of this fine institution and I will do everything in my capacity to uphold the good old CDS name.

5 Appreciation Note I think, the CDS School, Nagpur is one of the best ICSE Board school in Vidarbha. It is very co-operative and focuses on the overall development of the students. I can recollect that day when I had to come to Nagpur for my profession. So called good schools of Nagpur were not interested to admit my son in their schools.
The CDS school had given me a chance to admit my son and ultimately made him topper in ICSE and ISC Board exam in Nagpur. I believe, one has to come to CDS School if he really wants to learn. I am grateful to all the teachers for their co-operation and proper guidance to my son.

6 Blossoming Of Apeksha Shrivastava From A Tiny Bud To A Flower In The Beautiful Garden Of CDS School It has been a most invigorating experience to have my kids blossom at CDS.
Right from Director Madam and Principal, to the teachers and the bhaiyas, mausis and Santosh bhaiya, every person lent a helping hand in nurturing them. Being a working parent I related SOMEBODYs MOTHER, as SOMEBODYs TEACHER and the truth is that both my kids were under able wings only to soar into the world and have proved to be the best in their fields. They have boldly surpassed the herd mentality and crossed the barriers of their contemporaries, proving to be trendsetters amidst their peers.
I humbly bow in gratitude to the school for giving my kids a platform which has and forever helped them to face the challenges in life with the head held high.

10 Stepping Towards A Life Of Excellence I was in CDS School right from nursery to class 10. The school had everything a parent desires for their children. I was in Ramdaspeth Branch for the first six years. Those years were the building blocks for life. All the teachers were amazing and taught us basic concepts for our further schooling. The extra-curricular activities like dance and sports were equally being taken care off. Later on, when I shifted to Katol Road Branch, the experience was enlightening. The teachers were more than just supportive. Not only did the school help me discover my potential, but also made me talented. Apart from excellent academic learning, my school offered me the opportunity for complete development. My school has always been an important stepping stone towards a life of excellence.

Proud to be part of CDS School.

I finished my B.Tech in Oils, Oleochemicals, and Surfactants Technology from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. I am the gold medalist of my branch and have received various awards from my college and the Oil Technological Association of India (OTAI). After Graduation, I joined Firmenich Aromatics. Currently, I am an incoming student for a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusets, Amherst.

Thank you

12 The strong Roots Of My Successful Carrier As A ITC Chef Have Been Developed At CDS School As my mother use to say that school life is the first stage of our lives, and i strongly believe its a start of what kind of person you become.
Well, i do have alot of great memories from school which i still cherish for instance, of course the picnics, annual events, the stay over at school was one of the amazing moments, also the time when i became the head boy in high school was one of my proudest moments. I joined CDS since nursery and i never felt a need to change school it had the best faculty who literally spoon feed you and are there for you through all your difficulties, i made few great friends, we may not talk now but am sure whenever i need someone they will be a call away. Also as our school is an ICSE board soo it helped me alot through my college and my career. Definitely school life is tough, there were some hard times as well which makes us even stronger and confident.
Now, i have completed my graduation in Hotel Management and am working for ITC hotels as a Chef in Bakery and Confectionery in Hyderabad, soon planning to shift abroad for my master in pastry & confectionary arts, but when i look back, i will never forget that my roots belongs to my school CDS. (P.S. am sure i did not have a gala time at school throughout but those were one of the best days of my life and i would not change a single thing.)

13 I Will Always Cherish My Wonderful Memories, That I Have Created In The CDS School I am a proud student of the Chanda Devi Saraf School. I started here in kindergarten and been a part of it all the way till the 10th standard. My numerous memories here with friends and teachers in both classrooms and playgrounds make up some of the best times of my life. The values and knowledge I learnt here have played a big part in becoming the person I am today. I am extremely grateful for the school to support and encourage me in participating in numerous competitions and Olympiads across the country. This has been very critical in preparing me well for the upcoming challenges like the JEE. I will always cherish my memories and the friends I made at the school.

15 My Memorable Journey Of Eight Years At CDS School My journey of 8 years at C.D.S School has been a pretty great experience. What I chose to take with me from my years with C.D.S School is that, if you can learn to accept who you are and love yourself, you can face any challenge that lies ahead. The things you do (at C.D.S School) and the people you meet will reside among your fondest memories. Even though my life now is far away from the people I met there, they are always in my thoughts, and I am sure that should we meet up on the street somewhere, it would be as though no time had passed at all.

Thank you C.D.S School for giving me such an opportunity to be associated with your beautiful family.

17 Fortunate to have been a part of this ever-evolving institution

I still remember my first day in CDS School back in 2008. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I
took admission in the year 2008 in 8 th Std. The memories spent there are so strong that even today if I
close my eyes I see my classroom, corridors, library, and terrace, backyard etc. What a beautiful view the
school terrace had, Forest on the other side and City on the opposite side. The school had this huge place,
playground and seating area, I just loved spending time there with my classmates and friends. Having
Lunch, Gossiping, My God it was so much fun!! Being in CDS School was the best time of my life. I
made some really good friends with whom I shared almost anything. We use to talk about Harry Potter,
Disney Movies, Music Interests, Anime, Cartoons, Pop Stars etc. We use to fill out each other’s Slam
Books as well. I just loved going to school. Before my Admission everybody suggested my Mother that
taking admission in an ICSE board will be difficult for a girl who has previously studied in a State Board
school. But after taking admission and learning I personally realized as a student that being in this school
was the best decision and the best time of my entire life. I realized that ICSE Board was one of the best
boards and I rather found very interesting and innovative from State or CBSE because I studied in both
the other boards before and ICSE was the best according to me.
I took admission when I was in 8 th and left the school in 12 th std. My mother suggested me after 10 th that I
should continue in CDS School only so I did and still I enjoyed my time in CDS Junior College as well. I
was there for almost 5 years, and my attendance was very good because I just loved going to school
because of my friends and teachers. Some teachers were very special to me. Back then Principal Sir was
Mr Tyrone Sir, a great human being and most importantly a wonderful teacher. He was more like a friend
to us all. Then Mr Kenneth sir became Principal, he use to teach us English, & History. One of the best
experiences of my life was seeing Kenneth Sir teach us. He is probably the most dedicated, amazing,
greatest teacher I have ever met or taught by. I use to hate History/Civics until Kenneth sir taught and
made me fall in love with History/Civics, though I didn’t scored good marks in History I guarantee no
one will ever teach History and Civics like Kenneth sir did. Seeing him teach was such fun because he
made every difficult thing easy. He also taught us English with such great enthusiasm and interest that I
was completely mesmerized by the chapters of the English Textbooks and imagined what was going on in
those stories. The ICSE books were just fabulous, I still remember the names of the English Textbooks,
Whispers of Immortality, and Footprints from the Past etc. Julius Caesar was one of my favorite, I feel
blessed and lucky that I was able to learn something so advanced and great work of Shakespeare by a
wonderful teacher like Kenneth Sir. In 11 th & 12 th I had Literature, Poems and Greatest play of all time by
George Bernard Shaw Pygmalion. All the poems, chapters, books, I remember and loved them all. During
Exams also I had the bestest time ever. When I was in 9 th Std we were given choices to for choosing
subject stream, I selected Arts and I had amazing and interesting subjects. EVS was taught by Sheetal
Ma’am, she was a great teacher as well, and then there was our Economics teacher, not really remember
her name but she was also a great teacher. My 8 th std class teacher and Hindi teacher Bharti Ma’am, a
humble and beautiful teacher indeed. Neha ma’am a lovely amazing teacher and human being, Pooja
Ma’am who taught me Sociology in Jr College was an amazing teacher as well. Neeta ma’am, our
Physical Education teacher Francis sir, there were so many amazing teachers and I miss and love them all
very dearly. I now realize that when I loved these books and classes and if I studied more and worked
harder I would have scored great marks during my Board Exams. I regret now because I had wonderful
teachers who helped me a lot but I did not worked harder.

Apart from my favorite and wonderful Kenneth Sir there were three ladies whom I will never forget and
always admire the most. They have taught me astonishing life lessons which I will cherish throughout my
entire life. Mrs Rekha Singhal ma’am (I miss her a lot today also) the most talented, gifted unique
teacher I’ve known, her values, her teachings everything was a gift for me and I was proud to be her
student. I still remember during my 10 th Std Farewell, she wrote a personal message in our Farewell card
to every student and what she wrote on mine is still my life lesson to me. It is still with me in her
handwriting and is very precious to me. Then there is Dolly Ma’am, she was more than a teacher to me,
she is and always will be like a big sister and friend to me. She was there during my difficult times, when
I was going through Teenage problems, and coping up with who I want to be. I knew I could always
count on her and ask any help that I needed. She is the most wonderful teacher and a loyal, down to earth
human being and teacher I’ve known so far. She guided me to the right path always. Last but not the least
Mrs Nisha Saraf ma’am, exceptionally hard working, dedicated women I’ve ever seen. So talented,
unique, hard working, strong personality she had and still does. I remember her teaching me Sociology
once or twice in the Library, she was so humble and polite; she never made us feel any less, I still
remember a small conversation with her when she guided me to make a right choice and not to go in a
wrong path. Every teacher I mentioned above were and are more than teachers to me, they were my
bestest friends , they were always very nice to me and made me feel good about myself and made me fall
in love with them in a childish way, that’s why I loved going to school. There are so many beautiful
memories I have of CDS School, Farewell Function, Annual Day, Sports Day, Being Joint Secretary of
the Rotary Club, Dance Competition etc. I still remember me speaking my first thought of day during
assembly where I was so nervous but Kenneth Sir helped me out from behind. He wasn’t even angry that
I messed up the words in front of the entire school. He always praised us and motivated us. My Exams,
Board Exams everything I appeared from the school only and enjoyed every moment of it every day. The
Prelims before the main exams were so much fun, no one would believe that during exams we were less
stressed and more happier. I enjoyed writing my Board Exams more joyfully than ever. In 12 th I had
selected this one subject in which I was the only student in the hall giving that board exam, it was indeed
a unique moment for me as well. I can go on forever if I write about the wonderful amazing memories I
had when I was in CDS School. The Classmates, The Curriculum, The Books, The Chapters, Stories,
Sports, and Premises everything was just perfect. But most importantly my teachers were the best!!!! I
had the most amazing time of my life; those 5 years I spent will always stay close to my heart forever.
I still see the school building from my home’s terrace now and go all nostalgic about my time spent there,
so many beautiful memories are there that I can’t explain in words. I think about visiting my school and
my dear teachers always but as I’m myself working in a School now from past 3 years whenever I’m free
the school’s time is over and still I didn’t get a chance to visit. As now I work with a School
Administration I realized how a School works and manages everything. I hope and will visit sometime
soon and want to meet all my beloved teachers after so many years.
These are the Memories I will cherish and are once in a lifetime moments for me. Thank you to each and
every one of them. I love and respect them all very much. No words will ever be enough for my thoughts
and feelings about my school and teachers.
Thank you.

18 CDS has been a very formative part of my life

CDS has been a very formative part of my life. That's not only because I was there for almost half my life (10 years, I'm 25 now) but also because of the experiences and opportunities I had there. I have spent time in all three Nagpur branches of CDS. When I had started out in the Ramdaspeth school back in the year 2000, the branch was only two-stories and it even had a swimming pool out front. That place, just like all the other branches, has grown so much since I passed out from school. It is truly a joy to see that.

Somehow, I have always had great teachers in all my classes. I don't know if that was my luck or it was just that there were/are so many great teachers at CDS. From the warm and friendly Lalitha ma'am in kindergarten to warmer and friendlier Dolly ma'am in 10th grade, schooling was always fun. I remember being constantly encouraged to pursue opportunities and develop myself. Rathkantiwar sir and Shubhangi ma'am facilitated my love for science. Bharti ma'am helped me access co-curricular, scholarship exams to further challenge myself. Tyrone sir and Kenneth sir cemented my understanding of the English language. And I honestly believe as a working professional in the US currently, I wouldn't have gotten here had I not been able to communicate as effectively as I have. I also can't forget Francis sir and his rigorous yet joyful football training sessions. And finally, Nisha ma'am's continuous support and belief in my abilities was something I can never forget.

In my time at CDS, I formed lifelong friendships and went through profound personality development which formed a lasting set of values; values that I still hold dear. And I'm sure I had bad times when I was there, but it is more than a decade later and I can only remember the good things. That probably tells you a thing or two about my time at CDS.
